The customer needed simple storage that would sit close to the house in Thayer Farms Rathdrum. Space was tight, so putting the shed as close as possible to house was a must. A lean-to that could go up only a few inches from the wall was the clear solution. We built a 5x12 mini modern lean-to storage shed on site in one day. The structure sits tight against the house. Every board and piece of material had to be walked through the opposite side yard and all the way around the house to reach the work area. Board and batt siding and composition roofing make up the exterior. Both materials handle North Idaho weather without trouble. The siding stays straight through wet seasons and freeze-thaw cycles. The composition roof handles rain and snow cleanly. A three-foot door provides easy daily access. Because the shed is built right against the house, tools and supplies stay close at hand without taking up extra yard space. The finished lean-to fits the tight location perfectly. It gives the customer practical storage in Rathdrum that works with the existing lot layout.
Every board had to be carried around the house to the build site.

Yes. A lean-to design allows the structure to sit tight against an existing wall. Careful measuring and framing keep the shed stable and weather-tight even in a narrow gap. This approach works well when open yard space is limited.
All boards and materials were carried by hand through the side yards and around the house. No heavy equipment was needed. Planning the material path in advance keeps the process efficient on a one-day build.
Board and batt siding performs well in Kootenai County conditions. It resists moisture and stays true through temperature swings. When installed correctly it provides a durable, classic exterior that needs only routine care.
A lean-to can be built extremely close to house because it sheds all rain and snow from only one side of building. This allows a narrow gap between structures while avoiding moisture issues.
Yes. The compact size and simple lean-to design allow the entire structure to go up in a single day when the site is clear. Framing, siding, and roofing can all be completed without extending into a second day.
